In the meantime, we have planted well over two million mangroves and it is still going on. Based on this experience, we can almost call ourselves mangrove experts, especially because we are in continuous training through the partnership with the university in Mati. Crossing the 2 million mark is also the reason why this work report is only about mangroves.
Professor Lea Jimenez not only advises us, she and her team of students also monitor the reforestation and growth. Since mid-2021, a report on the condition of the reforestations has been produced every six months. This not only provides donors with the necessary transparency, but also gives us a good overview of the current situation. Everything is easier with partners who not only know about the importance of mangroves, but also pass this knowledge on to us.
Planting mangroves is easy, but it is much more difficult to organise everything in such a way that it is coordinated. It already starts in the tree nurseries, where different mangrove species are raised, which need different lengths of time before they can be „released“ into the wild. So it is important to maintain a stock of the seedlings that will stay longer in the nursery until planting day. But they must not stay too long either, because then their roots will either grow through the planting bag into the soil or even with a 180-degree turn back up again. Both must be avoided if possible.

One of the Mama Earth nurseries. For mangroves, prudent and proactive time management is required.

Reforestation is easiest when we can plant right on the doorstep of the fishermen‘s settlements.

We are also happy to plant in partnership with companies. Documentation is done through drone videos, videos and photos. The photo shows the beginning of the drone video for Carini, a well-known label printing company from Austria (

Before I get to the money, I would like to point out once again that we not only involve the local residents, mostly fishing families, and pay for the raising of the seedlings and the planting, but also collect plastic from the sea, encourage teachers to include more marine protection in their teaching, etc. Many good actions around the mangroves. How can we plant more mangroves with your help? As a reminder, one mangrove costs only 0.33 Euros.

• You can support us with a mangrove subscription. It costs 120 euros a year and we symbolically plant a mangrove for you every day. A good feeling to wake up every morning and the mangrove is already planted. Link:

• You can buy one of the indestructible shopping bags available from our partner „Rettet den Regenwald e. V.“. One bag costs ten euros and plants 20 mangroves. Link:

• You donate via the website for the Malizia Mangrove Park. The minimum amount is 15 mangroves, which is 5 Euros, and you will automatically receive a donation receipt. Link:

• You buy one of our school chairs for 38 Euros. These are made from the plastic we fish out of the sea. We donate these chairs to the local schools. You will receive a donation receipt. Link:

• You organise a planting campaign with us. We plant 20,000 mangroves in your name, or the name of your company, but we are also happy to plant more. The costs for 20.000 mangroves are 6.600 Euro. We produce a giant poster with your logo, take drone photos and document the plantings with coordinates, videos and photos. This way you can see your planting area in Google Earth and have plenty of material for your press work.

These five suggestions should suffice. We are also interested in so-called bundle partnerships where your company donates one or more mangroves for every product sold, for example, to regulate the CO2 balance. Mangroves are the best CO2 compensators.

In short: we are open to all ideas, let us know. If you have any questions, always ask.
